Johannesburg - Around 300 families would be affected by the evictions currently being carried out by the Red Ants in Berea, Johannesburg, metro police said on Tuesday.

Abel Road and Tudhope Avenue had been closed off to traffic since Tuesday morning and would remain closed until Wednesday night when the street was expected to be cleared of all the families moved out of the buildings.

Minnaar said the evictions were going smoothly.
