Attacked toddler still in ICU
Johannesburg - A toddler who was severely beaten in a house robbery in Robin Hills north of Johannesburg, was still in a serious but stable condition in an intensive care unit, Sandton Medi-Clinic said on Saturday.
"Her condition has not changed... it is still serious but stable," said spokesperson Liezel Furlong.
The girl was beaten along with a caregiver, Francina Sekhu, who suffered severe head injuries, at their home on Thursday.
The toddler also suffered serious head injuries.
Sekhu is being treated at the Helen Joseph Hospital.
The Citizen quoted hospital spokesperson Lovey Mogapi saying she was slowly recovering, but said the woman did not remember the incident.
The toddler's mother, identified by Beeld as Madelein Kruger, ran outside her house carrying her injured baby and screaming shortly after arriving home at 13:00.
Police spokesperson Colonel Eugene Opperman said investigation was continuing, but no arrests have been made.
A laptop and modem were reportedly stolen from the home.
