Johannesburg - The drivers of two Audis - one without number plates and the other with false plates - have been arrested on the N1 near Midrand.

They were among 11 people arrested by traffic police for speeding on the N1 near Midrand, Johannesburg metro police said.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said an Audi S3 was caught travelling at 212km/h. The car had no number plates on.

Another speeding Audi driver was taken into custody after police found that the car's number plates were false.

"The man in his late 60's could not explain how he got the plates. They had been registered to another vehicle in the Western Cape," said Minnaar.

All those arrested would appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court soon, he added.
