Johannesburg - An apparently injured baboon has been spotted in Bassonia and Meyersdal, south of Johannesburg, an offsite monitoring company said on Wednesday.

"He looks like a male, he is huge," said Carmen Terino, a business development manager for Vega Monitoring.

"It looks like he could be injured. It seems that he is distressed and disorientated, and you can see he is lost and doesn't know what to do."

"He was spotted again on Wednesday in Meyersdal, which is 2km away from Bassonia."

Terino said the SPCA had been alerted.
