East London - The parents and staff of a day care centre have been plunged into grief by the death of a four-month-old boy at their "school".
Die Burger heard that the boy, who cried himself to sleep last Thursday morning, was later found dead.
The head of Cuddly Tots Educare Centre called a meeting of all parents to tell them of the death.
A parent who asked to remain anonymous, said the head had done everything possible to save the baby.
The mother said she was grateful that the school had told them immediately, instead of trying to hide the death.
Staff was traumatised
"We will do everything possible to support the school."
She said parents had been encouraged to tell the school if their children were ill.
The baby had been at the school for only a week.
A second parent said staff at the school had been traumatised by the death, and many of the parents had cried when they were told.
The head of the care centre did not want to comment.
