Baby drowns in North West pool

Johannesburg - A 9-month-old girl drowned in a swimming pool in Klerksdorp, in the North West, paramedics said on Tuesday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said the baby had fallen into the pool and was immersed for a long period of time before she was plucked from the water by family members on Monday.

Wicks said paramedics found her in a critical condition.

A full advanced life support resuscitation was initiated but the girl was declared dead shortly after arrival at the hospital, he said.
