Barbie to oppose damages claim

2010-11-29 09:26

Johannesburg - Convicted child molester Cézanne Visser, also known as Advocate Barbie, will fight the damages claim instituted against her by two of her victims, The Star reported on Monday.

She will argue that she could not be held accountable for her actions because she had no intention to harm them.

The two are claiming damages of R600 000 each in the North Gauteng High Court for the costs of counselling and the anguish and trauma suffered as a result of the sexual abuse by Visser and allegedly her former boyfriend, Dirk Prinsloo.

The two were aged 11 and 15 when the abuse took place more than eight years ago.

Visser is currently serving a seven-year term after being convicted last year on 11 charges relating to sexual offences involving children and adults.

Prinsloo is currently in a Belarus jail for a bank robbery conviction. He fled to Belarus to avoid the sex crimes trial in South Africa.

Visser's third victim, Jeannine du Plessis, committed suicide at the age of 21 in March this year.

Can she please first stop with her selfish actions. According to her stepfather Prof. Lemmer she is “struggling” in prison but her (their) consistent “moaning” letters and communications to the officials at Correctional Services and the minister have direct impact on all the other female inmates of Pretoria Central – to the extent that all female inmates are now going to be moved to even worse conditions and even more worrying physically next to the male prison – physically locked-up for 23 hours per day with no correctional activities. As it is they are all struggling – not a lot of people have an idea of the inhuman circumstances those women are facing day to day – it is supposed to be correctional services to help them with rehabilitation, respect and self-esteem and there are many really trying to – so much for support “16 days of non-violence against woman”. Maybe Zuma and his big spending DOCS officials should just backtrack on a couple of empty “talk-shows” at these venues!

Who cares if she's "struggling" in prison? She can rot there as far as I am concerned.

I hope you go straight to hell for what you've done - a young life was lost because of you. How can you claim you had no intention of hurting them? Sickos like you should be handed over to the 'kangaroo court'.
