Johannesburg - A man accused of bestiality in Wentworth Park, Krugersdorp on the West Rand, was released on R1 500 bail on Thursday, Gauteng police said.
He appeared briefly in the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court, Captain Mosotho Phaahla said.
The date of his next appearance could not be immediately obtained.
The 23-year-old was arrested on Wednesday after the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) laid criminal charges against him for the alleged sexual abuse of three dogs at his home.
NSPCA spokesperson Jaco Pieterse said a resident complained about the abuse three months ago.
Inspectors took the animals to a place of safety. Veterinary examinations confirmed they had been abused, Pieterse said.
