Beware bogus job offers

Johannesburg - Mpumalanga police appealed to women to be careful about their safety when accompanying strangers to job offers, after a woman who had hoped to earn some money was raped this way.
"Make really sure, double sure, before allowing yourself to accompany him," said police spokesperson Malcolm Mokhomene on Wednesday, urging women to verify the authenticity of the offer first.
"If somehow you are compelled by circumstances to accompany him, don't be alone. Walk with another person to ensure your safety."
His warning comes after a 25-year-old woman was promised work on a farm in Middelburg on Tuesday, but after walking a while with the man, she was pushed down and raped.
