'Beware fake debt collectors'

Johannesburg - Stannic on Thursday warned its customers to beware of people posing as debt collectors.
It said reports had surfaced of impostors claiming to be Stannic credit-control officers, who arrived at people's homes to repossess vehicles.
"All authorised Stannic agents must have positive identification as well as be able to produce a letter of introduction and a copy of the contractual agreement between Stannic and themselves."
Stannic is the asset finance division of Standard Bank.
