Cape Town - God, Modimo, uZimu, uThixo and uNkulunkulu - these are some of different names attributed to the Almighty and found in a special Bible now moving from congregation to congregation.
The special Bible is part of the bicentennial celebrations of Bible societies worldwide.
The unique Bible has sections representing South Africa's eleven official languages.
"In South Africa, we thought it will be a wonderful idea if we can focus on the Bible, but also on the variety of languages... and make people aware of the Bible societies in this way," said Bible Society of South Africa information officer, Mims Turley, on Thursday.
Turley said the limited edition saw only 1 000 copies being printed, with each one being individually numbered. Some would be available to collectors at R200 each.
Turley said the Bibles would be sent to all church denominations, with a special section at the front making provision for ministers or congregations to sign the book.
"The idea is to get and welcome all the Bibles back to Cape Town, the headquarters of the Bible society, by the end of October, November," said Turley.
