Biker airlifted after off-road accident

Bloemfontein - A 40-year-old man was seriously injured on Saturday when he came off his off-road motorbike near Ventersburg, ER24 said in a statement.

Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said the man and a group of friends were on their way to Lichtenburg on off-road motorbikes when the accident happened.

She said he apparently hit a sandy patch of soil on a dirt road, lost control of the bike and was flung off.

Paramedics were called and the man was treated for back and chest injuries before being airlifted to a Johannesburg hospital for further treatment.
