Bloemfontein - All charges against an Aberdeen farmer
arrested in connection with an alleged rightwing plot to commit acts of
terrorism were withdrawn by the State on Thursday.
Charges of treason and conspiracy to plan acts of
terrorism were withdrawn against Louis Lategan during a brief appearance in the
Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court.
The State gave no reasons for the withdrawal of the
charges.
Lategan had been in custody since his arrest last week.
Earlier, Hein Boonzaaier of Centurion, was granted bail
of R80 000 in relation to the same case.
Martin Keevy of Bloemfontein, Johan Prinsloo of
Naboomspruit and Mark Trollip of Douglas, were denied bail.
They were arrested on 16 December, for allegedly planning
to kill ANC leaders by detonating a bomb at the party's national elective
conference in Bloemfontein.
The men will appear again on 25 March.
