Body found in Apies River

2012-03-27 20:05
Johannesburg - A decomposed body of a man was found in the Apies River in Pretoria West on Tuesday morning, Gauteng police sad.

Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said the body was found by cleaning staff from a nearby training college around 10:30.

He said the man had clearly been dead "for some time" as the level of decomposition made it difficult to identify his age and race.

There were no obvious indications of the cause of death, but a post-mortem would be conducted.

If the autopsy revealed that the man had been murdered, police would investigate further.

Msimango said no link had been established between the man's corpse and the discovery on Sunday of two teenagers found stabbed to death in the area.

"If we find information that links the two we will pursue it, but for now we are investigating them separately."
