Polokwane - The body of an 84-year-old pensioner was found near a municipal pool in Polokwane, Limpopo police said on Monday.

"The body was discovered on Saturday. An inquest docket has been opened to find out how he died," Warrant Officer Lesiba Ramoshaba said.

Sakkie Freidberg was last seen on Thursday when he left his old age home for his daily walk.

"The old age home management started looking for him upon realising that he had not returned. A passer-by called the police on Saturday after he saw a body in the bushes near the swimming pool."

No arrests had been made.
