Cape Town - The body of a 2-year-old boy who went missing in a fire at Valhalla Park has been found, the City of Cape Town said on Wednesday.

The boy was found by the police's dog unit at midday on Tuesday, disaster risk management centre spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said.

"We've taken him to the state mortuary in Salt River to perform an autopsy. We anticipate results today."

Monday's fire displaced 44 people from an informal settlement in the area. The cause of the fire was not known.

My heart is so broken. The mother decided to run away alone and live a 2 year olD behind??? she didnt even know where she was. I mean a 2 year olD should be under adult supervision at all times. It doesnt matter if there's fire or not.

So sorry little one. RIP. These fires are a scourge. Informal settlements should have been eradicated long ago. Less corruption and more housing.

Got to blame the ANC for this, they could not give a dam about the people of this country, How the fire started is not the problem, but how the people have to live in shacks like this is. Poor little boy, to be left alone, and to die alone. Shame on you Zuma and all your promises.
