Johannesburg - A 53-year-old farmworker died after being attacked by five Boerbuls at a plot in Nigel in Gauteng at the weekend, police said on Sunday.
Spokesperson Andy Pieke said Johannes Moshole, who had been working on the farm for about three months, went to open the gate for cattle at about 07:00 on Saturday.
"Soon afterwards, the five dogs managed to get over the fence around the house and got to where the man was," said Pieke.
"He started to run away from the dogs, which then attacked him."
According to the plot owner, the dogs had never attacked anyone before.
The dogs bit Moshole on the arms and legs. Paramedics were called, but Moshole died from loss of blood.
All five dogs have since been shot dead.
