Boeremag leader was plot 'mastermind'

2012-07-25 21:37

Johannesburg - Boeremag leader Mike du Toit was indeed the author of a blueprint for a violent rightwing coup, the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria found on Wednesday.

He discussed the plan in detail with others, Judge Eben Jordaan said as he began summing up evidence against Du Toit, who was described in the evidence as "the man with the plan".

Du Toit, a former university lecturer, was among the first group of the 22 Boeremag high treason accused to be arrested in April 2002.

Jordaan began delivering his lengthy judgment on Monday.

He said it was clear from the evidence that Du Toit had drawn up various versions of the coup plan, known as "Document 12", that was found on his computer.

The court accepted the evidence of several State witnesses, including police informer JC Smit, that Du Toit had discussed Document 12 and its contents at a series of meetings in various parts of the country.

The plan had also been discussed at meetings with the Transvaal Agricultural Union.

Chasing the country's 50 million black citizens out of the country, taking over military bases and major cities and creating chaos in the country prior to taking over the government had featured prominently during these meetings.

According to witnesses, Du Toit had discussed creating chaos by killing former president Nelson Mandela and cutting the power to large parts of the country.

These actions would have served as a "trigger" to set in motion the coup plan.

One witness said Du Toit had assured him the group had people in Eskom ready to cut the power, which would create chaos.

According to Du Toit's plan the chaos would be used to chase black citizens towards the northern border into neighbouring countries, using food as bait.

One witness said Du Toit had discussed making use of Indians and coloureds as allies, but then shooting them once the Boere had taken over the country.

Another witness said Du Toit had discussed having ships ready to take Indians out of the country, but he said coloureds could remain in the Cape.

Some witnesses said Du Toit had openly discussed that anyone - white or black - who resisted their plans, should be shot.

Many State witnesses said it was clear to them that the plans had moved away from protecting whites to an offensive battle plan to take over the government.

At one specific meeting, Du Toit had appointed leaders for various parts of the country and assigned specific tasks to them, such as taking air photos of military bases, recruiting members for the coup plan and gathering information about weapons depots.

Jordaan rejected claims by the accused Mike du Toit, his brother Andre, Rooikoos du Plessis and Dion van den Heever that all of the State witnesses had fabricated their evidence about the meetings at which the coup was planned.

He said it was very clear that Du Toit and others had planned a violent coup and that the State witnesses had no reason to fabricate lies.

Judgment continues.

These guys really hate everone besides themselves. People please leave mature comments.

I always wonder at this "White-Black" thing everryone spews in mindless rage. Here is a thing you younger people should know while you ranting about the pro's and con's of apartheid. IT was NOT a white-black thing, it was far more than that. I suggest you research the policies of a certain political WHITE party that fought the National party tooth and nail for equality for all, all through the apartheid years. It was called the "United Party" (more commonly refered to by NP supporters as "***-boeties") So, Please dont brand us all from that era as the same!!!

'Chasing the country's 50 million black citizens out of the country, taking over military bases and major cities and creating chaos in the country prior to taking over the government had featured prominently during these meetings'. This alone should have them released on grounds of insanity.

      scebberish.umfazi - 2012-07-26 16:10

22 people going to overthrow 45 million? LOL..... I would love to have seen this.

  • chris.modise.560 - 2012-07-25 22:10

"......Du Toit had openly discussed that anyone - white or black - who resisted their plans, should be shot". At least they did not racially discriminate. Trial has been going on for 10 years. The state clearly has nothing against them. They would have not succeeded anyway, not in this day and age. "One witness said Du Toit had assured him the group had people in Eskom ready to cut the power, which would create chaos". Eskom was way ahead of them with load shedding on that one....

      hein.huyser - 2012-07-25 22:59

Sounds like a thriller written by AZAPO. They had the same ideas, just different customers. My goodness, these guys must have been on something strong. Killing all those who would resist would mean killing 98% of whites as well, who in a referendum, prior to the release of Mandela, voted for change.

      chris.modise.560 - 2012-07-25 23:14

@Hein, that's the reason why education is key, that was some unwise thinking. How did they come up with 50million blacks, just not long ago the entire SA population was around 40mil. They were clearly smoking from a strong pot of hatred.!

      watsongeorgejan - 2012-07-26 02:49

Neo-nazis have lost the plot. Look at Anders Breivik for example, the guy said he was fighting Norway's liberal laws towards immigrants more specifically muslims but, of the 70 or so people he shot only about five were islamists. So, his war was basically against his own people. Isn't the idea supposed to be that you endear yourself to your people so they can join you in fighting whatever system you feel is unjust?..And to think they're supposed to be educated and civilised...

      scebberish.umfazi - 2012-07-26 17:01

These are crunchies, so by white they meant English and "not afrikaans" basically.

  • lihle.majozini - 2012-07-25 22:38

Then, Mr Du Toit should be given an extra 1000 yrs in jail and after that he should be deported in Afghanistan where he would be with people who think just like him for his entire life.

  • tngulube3 - 2012-07-25 22:50

I am shocked that if in this plot Malema was involved 1000 comments would be commented and the channel of connection show that it not only this Boeremag who hate African's.

      chris.modise.560 - 2012-07-25 23:29

We should name and shame the wrong doers regardless of color.

      susan.economakis - 2012-07-26 09:53

Tngulube3 these people are part of a small group of crazy people that we get on both sides of the spectrum. The future of our country depends on the ations of the majority of the people. Are the majority of South African racist war-mongers? I dont think so. I certainly hope not. What I fear is that these groups are reactionistic - from the one side unemployment and poverty and dissapointment in the government is used to recruit members and on the other side crime, farm murders, BEE, talks of ground expropriation etc creates a defensive attitude. Luckily the Boeremag-guys are so out of line and crazy that most people just laughs at them. My fear is not for them, but for the time when normal, moderate people starts to react militant.

      scebberish.umfazi - 2012-07-26 16:22

tngulube3, I think you may be misunderstanding the worries of the other groups. It is not that we dont want these people punished, in fact quite the opposite, as we all want this country as a whole to thrive and prosper, regardless of colour, NO MORE RACISM FROM All SIDES, just like other muti-cultural countries do. Malaysia, a perfect example of racial unity, (sure petty problems will always exist), but check out their economy, from jungle to 1st World in under 15 years! What we asking for is equality and justice for EVERYONE, across the board. No more BEE, AA or favouritism or anything driving the wedge of division deeper and deeper. All everyone wants is a level playing field and no more abuses of power or corruption. You can have this, and I can guarantee you, you will see AN INTEGRATED country that is unbeatable in every respect.

      scebberish.umfazi - 2012-07-26 16:24

.....and then I realised I was only dreaming, as they lay me, neath the green green grass of home.

  • teddy.beer.319 - 2012-07-26 00:54

Where are all the pious and self-righteous commentators here? Surely we miss your comments about how being a certain colour makes you better people. Just look at the NPA hearing and the silliness that manifests in the 'millions' of support comments!

      ludlowdj - 2012-07-26 11:01

actually if you want to talk about pious and self righteous then you are in fact talking about some of the "greatest" names in world history, Abraham Lincoln springs easily to mind. Accept that whites conquered the world, accept that racial pride is a very real part of all of our cultures irrespective of race, or creed and that without it a race is doomed to extinction, then also realize that these mainstays of pride in one culture, race, country and creed do not excuse intolerance of others.

      scebberish.umfazi - 2012-07-26 16:37

What bothers me is the way charges made and cases are prosecuted. I agree these racist nutters need to go down, however the murder seems more like a freak accident, so more correctly under law it should be a manslaughter charge. How does this compare with ANCYL behaviour against the State as their behaviour therefore is also treason, not to mention the spinoff farm murders which are totally intentional. Then of course there is also the blue light brigade......

  • thandazab - 2012-07-26 06:49

Honestly all these ppl who think SA should belong to them alone are nuts! Black n white! When are ppl going to realise that SA belongs to all who live in it! All its citizens. Its not so hard for me n others why is it for all the malemas n du toits of this world! Bt then again we not insane! Bt I must say he wrote quite an adventurous, thrilling piece right there! I love the twist of turning against their allies at the end \ can u say blockbuster!\ Lol! This would be a good movie if it weren't so SICK n twisted! Bt right now its a joke!!!

  • annerie.m.coetzee - 2012-07-26 08:23

Funny how everyone has got something bad to say about the Boeremag, but years earlier when mandela and his boy'kies went into actual action it was nothing. FREE THE BOEREMAG MEN! THEY HAVE DONE THEIR TIME!!!!

      ludlowdj - 2012-07-26 11:04

in English you would call them "turncoats" and white history is full of them. I agree though that they should be released as they are not a threat anyway, groups like the Boeremag and AWB have long been the laughing stock of the white population in general.

      susan.economakis - 2012-07-26 12:31

Sorry Annerie - thank God they were caught before they started with their stupid plans. But what they did was high treason. That is why Nelson Mandela went to jail. It is a basic law anywhere in the world that people who plan to or who act to commit high treason, go to jail. What make them so special that they should be released - their stupidity?

      scebberish.umfazi - 2012-07-26 16:39

No sussn in your very own words, their similarity to Nelson, who was released.

  • riotousr - 2012-07-26 08:45

Unicellular troglodytes always have problems balancing the way their brains function. They either breath or walk, think or talk. They cannot do all two functions at the same time. Their pea brains never thought that they could be watched. "One witness said Du Toit had assured him the group had people in Eskom ready to cut the power, which would create chaos." Now we know where the blackouts of the load-shedding era came from.

  • richard.groenewald.9 - 2012-07-26 09:49

How stupid can a group of people actually be. Makes me bow my head in shame as an Afrikaner. Sounds like du Toit was planning to become president of La La Land and I am sure he would have removed the Rainbow slide or just painted it white.

  • ludlowdj - 2012-07-26 10:55

The Boeremag and AWB are both so saturated with undercover agents neither was ever a threat to the governments of this country (past and present) anyway. They seemed to have some seriously demented ideas, but lets be truthful for once, none are any worse than the plans the ANC itself had before they were given the country, not to forget that they are still wagging a low level war against whites in any case.

  • thato.loeto.3 - 2012-07-26 12:00

I almost fell for SAPS amnesty/ grace period for citizens to surrender their unlicensed firearms and ammunition- I thought the country was safe from civil war and I was gonna destroy the arms myself at some point but after that Boeremag plot some time ago and reading stories such as these I am thinking of investing in heavy arms and ammunition just incase…. And I did note the rather weird behavior of whites on blacks around that time of the plot to date- even small white children are racist which hints that “Document 12” is still underway otherwise why would white kids born after 1994 be racial- brace yourselves my Black People- this is NOT the last of the Boeremag lot- love them but trust them NOT!

  • nathi.dlova - 2012-07-26 16:18

I just wish they had started with this insanity so that they may see the walls coming down on them, we wouldnt be talking about this today wasting so much of taxpayers money

      scebberish.umfazi - 2012-07-26 17:09

Agreed, How could the courts allow them so much time and grace? Crazy.

  • fhatuwani.rambau.7 - 2012-07-27 13:15

We need radically policies as a matter of urgency on the issue of land restitution. Some of the countries that do not have arable land for agricultural purpose have never been threatened with food security. I have a seriuos problem with the term 'food security' as if people get food for free. However, there are lot of factors that contribute to food security. Please stop making too much emphasses on land restitution as if it is the only thing that plays a big role on food security. The only problem here can be summarised as "Black aspiration versus white fear" Some of these farms are used as military camps and store rooms for explosives. It is time that we need the bravery of Malema.
