Bloemfontein - A man masquerading as a doctor was arrested at Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein, Free State police said on Sunday.
A security guard became suspicious and followed the 21-year-old man entering the hospital premises on Saturday afternoon, said Sergeant Thabo Litabe.
He had a stethoscope hanging around his neck.
When the guard stopped and questioned him, the man claimed to be a doctor from Tempe Military Hospital. He said he was heading to the casualty ward to work, said Litabe.
"The guard called the police after the Pelonomi Hospital management said they knew nothing about the young doctor," he said.
The man is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Monday.
