Bogus guards walk with R1.45m

Pretoria - Two robbers stole R1.45m from Standard Bank in Silverton on Thursday by pretending to be security guards, said Pretoria police.
Inspector Paul Ramaloko said the two men followed procedures which the SBV security company normally did before they collected money at a bank.
About two hours before collecting money, SBV would call the specific bank to confirm they were coming and also provide the names of the people who would collect the money.
Had key to safe
On arrival at the bank, SBV would then provide an empty money bag which they would leave at the bank and take a different bag with money in it.
The robbers also had a key which gave them access to the bank's safe.
Ramaloko said: "I don't know how they got the key."
The robbery took place about 13:00.
Standard Bank realised a robbery had taken place when the real SBV called to confirm they would be collecting money at the bank.
