Bogus husband rapes woman

Nelspruit - Police were searching on Tuesday for a man who entered his neighbour's house in Hazyview and had sex with a woman who mistook him for her husband.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Captain Benjamin Bhembe said the intruder may have overheard the 48-year-old woman's husband mention that he would be visiting a neighbour.
The woman reported to police that she had been sleeping on Saturday night, but woke up to a man undressing her.
She had sex with him as she thought it was her husband.
"It is very puzzling, normally you know your partner by weight or smell," said Bhembe.
He said the woman lit a candle when she wanted to get up and drink water and the impostor tried to hide his face.
The duped woman realised it was not her husband and started screaming: "Who are you?"
He grabbed his clothes and fled through a window.
She later identified the man as a neighbour.
Police have opened a case of rape against him and they suspect the man is hiding, Bhembe said.
