Bok coach distances himself from frivolous Movember

Hayibo.com - Springbok fans and facial etiquette experts the world over have urged South
Africa's rugby coach, Peter De Villiers, to do the right thing' and shave off
his moustache when Movember comes to an end on Monday.
Movember is a month long, moustache growing event which is held around the
world each year to help raise funds and awareness for men’s health. A
spokesperson for the event, Fuzzychops Hogan denied De Villiers was a roving
ambassador for the project, saying, "his moustache only raises awareness of his
top lip, there is nothing healthy about it.
"A mo like Bryan Habana's is brilliant because it is ironic. It's what we in
the 'tashe business like to call mo'ronic," said Chops.
"Divvy's is just moronic. You keep asking yourself when will he travel back
in time and hook up with the rest of The Village People."
Chops said that while moustaches had once been the height of chic, they had
definitely lost some of their glamour since the heady days of the 1980's when
Pik Botha ruled the Platteland cocktail party and church fete circuit.
"People like Robert Mugabe and Ned Flanders have stolen some of the cool that
Pik and Magnum had lent to lip furniture," he said. "It's why Movember works so
well as an awareness event.
"Twenty years ago if you saw a guy looking like Freddie Mercury sitting
outside a school, you assumed the nanny had the day off and that uncle Freddie
was helping out.
"If that happens now, it's a different story," said Hogan.
Meanwhile De Villiers, who has not shaved his upper lip since Magnum PI
debuted on SABC back in 1984, would not be drawn on the subject of his moustache
except to say that he took it seriously and that he was not a one month wonder.
He said he would prefer to talk about the weekend's upcoming Test with
Ireland.
"Last week could have been a close shave," he said. "There's a pencil line
between winning and losing and it is important that we focus on the game."
Asked if he was purposefully dropping moustache references into his answers,
De Villiers expressed surprise that anybody was able to understand him.
"I am the eggman, they are the eggmen. I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob," he
said.
