Bloemfontein - Two people have been arrested after eight stolen vehicles and a revolver were recovered during a crime prevention operation at the Lesotho border, said Free State police on Sunday.
Superintendent Motantsi Makhele said the two men were arrested during the Friday-to-Sunday operation.
"It appears that the cars as well a revolver were stolen at one of the farms along the borderline," he said.
Both men face charges of vehicle theft.
Makhele said 27 illegal immigrants were arrested during the operation, and 95 suspected stolen cattle were confiscated.
Provincial police commissioner Amon Mashigo thanked police for their work and warned criminals.
He said: "I would like to thank those staff who worked around the clock during the operation alongside the border... we want to promise all those criminals that we are still going to make sure that we make life difficult for them."
