Johannesburg - A 2-year-old boy was killed when he was struck by a car on Rienie Avenue, in Eersterus, Pretoria, paramedics said on Tuesday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said the boy was thrown forward on impact after the car hit him on Monday night.

"Paramedics arrived at the scene to find him lying in the roadway. He had sustained critical injuries and sadly died as a result," he said.

Wicks said the cause of the accident was not known and would be investigated.

Very bad reporting I second you MARTIN , if the ambulance did not take more than an hour to arrive than maybe little omar would been with us today. May God be with the family and specially with the driver of the car... May God carry you through this difficult time. It was a sad day for all of us when laying you to rest may your soul rest in peace.

I have so many questions but because of poor reporting one cannot begin to ask those questions. RIP

Like where were the parents? With whom was this 2year old on a monday evening in the streets? As it stands it sounds like the child was alone as in \found lying in the street\, thus alluding to parental negligence.

Sad story , was he wearing a seat belt. Waiting for the god brigade to thank god for this. Damn the man.

      JJ - 2012-06-12 13:35

Was he wearing a seat belt? Please stop smoking the good stuff...that way your skills of comprehension will improve.

      suyann.slaters - 2012-06-15 10:33

Don't damn the person you don't have an idea what happened and what that person is going through, it could have happened to anybody. If you would read correctly than maybe just maybe you would realize that the child was not in the car!
