Johannesburg - A 7-year-old boy died when the gate of his parents' house derailed and fell on top of him in Eastcliff, south of Johannesburg on Thursday, paramedics said.
The gate derailed when the boy opened it, ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said.
"I think he might have pushed the gate too far and it fell on top of him."
The family heard the crash and ran outside.
They pulled the boy from under the gate and administered CPR until paramedics arrived.
The paramedics tried to resuscitate the boy for over an hour.
He was declared dead on the scene.
