Johannesburg - A 14-year-old boy faces suspension from his school after it was found that he had allegedly sexually abused about seven girls at the Orange Farm school, The Star reported on Friday.

One of the girls was an 8-year-old who was assaulted until she had bled.
A Gauteng department of education spokesperson said it had been found that the abuse had been happening for quite some time.

The teenage boy had also allegedly bullied his victims, the newspaper reports pupils at the school as saying, and forcing them to give him food and money.

Police are also investigating the abuse and the parents of the girls are likely to press charges.

However, police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini told Sapa he did not have any information on the case.

"No, I don't have information on that," he said.

The case is the latest in a string of shocking child-on-child abuse incidents in the country.

In March, a 5-year-old girl in Cape Town was found to have been raped by three Grade 2 boys at their school, it was reported.

In the same month, a 12-year-old KwaZulu-Natal girl was accused of raping her 5-year-old cousin at their home.

Childline manager Joan van Niekerk told the Times in March that it was common for children to observe and copy adults until they reach maturity, when they would know what was acceptable and what was inappropriate.

Forty-five percent of rapes reported to South African police are child rapes, and 50% of South Africa’s children will be abused before the age of 18, according to the Tears Foundation and the Medical Research Council.
