Johannesburg - The mother of a 4-year-old boy who was killed by hijackers in Reiger Park at the weekend said her little son pleaded for her to help him as the robbers sped off.

Taegrin Morris was hanging upside down out of his mother’s car as hijackers sped off, Beeld reported on Monday.

Morris of Delmore Park, Boksburg, was already dead when his father, Elwin Morris, later found his badly mangled body.

The little child’s father promised that if police didn’t find those responsible he would find them himself and kill them.

Taegrin’s mother, Chantel, took Taegrin and his sister, Erin, 8, in their Golf to visit their grandmother in Reiger Park, a few kilometres away, at about 19:30 on Saturday night.

As she was putting her children into the car, Morris said a man appeared at the car door and told her to get away from the vehicle. Her daughter undid her seat belt and got behind her mother.

She tried telling the hijackers to take her car and cellphone but leave her children alone but as she tried pulling Taegrin out of the car, the robbers simply sped off with the boy dangling from the car door.

Morris said her son screamed hysterically as the men raced off “mommy, help me” and she tried running after the car, but it was to no avail.

The car was found abandoned, with Taegrin’s body in it, in Boksburg.

Police are offering a reward of R50 000 for any information that might lead to the suspects’ arrests.

Police are also looking for four men who were involved in a similar incident last week.

A 5-year-old boy, Mongezi Phike, is still missing after the car he was travelling in with his father was hijacked in Bronkhorspruit last Tuesday.
