Cape Town - A man has appeared in the Athlone Magistrate's
Court for allegedly stabbing his pregnant schoolgirl girlfriend to death, the
Daily Voice reported on Wednesday.
Avukile Njanya, 23, emerged from the holding cells on
Tuesday with bruises on his face and wearing a pink jersey stained with blood.
He was assaulted by residents following 20-year-old
Ncebakazi Bili's death at the weekend.
Bili, a matric student, was 8-months pregnant when she was
stabbed to death at the Samora Machel township in Philippi on Saturday. Her
unborn baby also died.
According to the report, Njanya is accused of killing her in
a jealous rage.
The matter was postponed to Tuesday for a bail application.
