Brothers cheat health department

2012-03-01 09:00
Johannesburg - A man who allegedly used his sibling's identity to get a job was arrested along with his brother in Durban Central on Wednesday, the KwaZulu-Natal health department said.

Spokesperson Chris Maxon said one of the brothers applied for a job as an emergency worker with the Durban emergency medical and rescue service.

The application was successful, but when he was meant to start working he allegedly sent his brother instead as he already had a job with a private ambulance service.

Maxon said the brothers had the same initials and were both qualified basic life support paramedics.

An internal verification process revealed that the brother who got the job with the department was not the one who had applied for the job.

The brother working in the department had already been on the job for six months before the ruse was uncovered. The siblings were expected to appear in court on Thursday.
