Johannesburg - A Johannesburg metropolitan police officer, who was gunned down by a taxi driver in Meadowlands, is still in a critical condition at Milpark Hospital.
Metro police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said on Thursday that the officer, Thabo Mathebula, was "stable, but under sedation".
Mathebula, 37, was shot seven times on Wednesday by a taxi driver he had stopped for a traffic violation.
Minnaar said the assailant was chased by another metro officer and arrested.
The man is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
