Burglars clean out animal rescue offices

2012-02-01 12:46

Cape Town - Burglars broke into a Cape Town animal rescue office four times last week, stealing even the surveillance camera and money in collection tins.

"They’ve cleaned us out. We have to replace everything. Even expensive puppy food with all the nourishment for when they come in half-dead," Domestic Animal Rescue Group spokesperson Joy Giovanini told the Cape Argus newspaper.

"Thank God none of the animals was injured."

According to the report, the burglars first broke into the premises on Main Road, Hout Bay, last Monday, taking computers, printers, other electronic equipment and money.

Two nights later, they broke into a smaller office and stole a computer with vital databases. On Thursday, they raided the kitchen. They returned on Friday to steal the surveillance camera.

Giovanini said criminal charges had been laid.

Find them and lock them up with the dogs they stole from. Where will these pigs steal from next? Child Welfare? Hospice?

      RobertKeeling - 2012-02-01 13:30

Probably! Your guess may not be far off!

      Trudy - 2012-02-01 14:20

Please don't call these people pigs. Pigs are a smart, clean species which gets a bad rap because HUMANS pen them up in unsuitable, filthy conditions. Be careful what you say about animals and what you compare them to. They need more rights and protection not ignorant comparisons.

Trudy - well said - I applaud you

      Olive - 2012-02-01 13:18

Please don't call them animals - animals are not scumbags!!!!!!

      Jennifer - 2012-02-01 13:38

Wrong choice of words - animals no....vermin yes.....

      TJ - 2012-02-01 13:57

We can't call them vermin, Jennifer. Rats make the most wonderfully loyal and fun pets and are gentle creatures. They are also highly intelligent creatures. Vermin cannot fall into the same catergory as these pond scum.

  • Gavin - 2012-02-01 13:59

Calling criminal animals, just don't sit well with me. Animals don;t do to humans what we do to each other. Your average SA criminal is like a virus, its only purpose in life is to make the life of its human host as miserable as possible, to multiply and on the off occasion, to kill. Criminals in SA are lower than donkey barf. I hope the fleas of a thousand camels infest your crotches, and your fingers turn into meat hooks.

It is just unbelievable how low some human beings can stoop - robbing orphaned, starving and injured animals, may God help us.

      Bernard - 2012-02-01 15:01

      Brett - 2012-02-01 15:04

Before putting down viscious dogs, use them as defences for places like this. They will eat any color people and can be taught to do this as well.

  • cheldon.botes - 2012-02-01 15:56

    Shoot them!!!

  • Hermann - 2012-02-01 16:13

Bloody rabid monsters. Hope they get caught.

  • Hermann - 2012-02-01 16:20

Just thinking we should stop supporting help to humans hit by floods, unemployment, fires, etc until half humans start behaving with respect towards all welfare.

  • ReunionofIntelligentMinds - 2012-02-01 16:26

Being that comfortable to go and steal 3 times in a row tells me that they have either inside information or someone that used to work there. Install nerve gas which activates when there is a break in. Guaranteed to work.
