Johannesburg - A Brakpan man was shot dead by burglars on Thursday, police said.
Spokesperson superintendent Andy Pieke said Marthinus Botha, 56, of Dalpark in Brakpan, died after being shot in the head and neck.
Three gunmen took two firearms out of a safe, a television set, a DVD player and other household goods and fled.
"One of the suspects had dreadlocks," said Pieke.
"It was established that the robbers had gained entry into the house by forcing open the bathroom burglar proofing."
The North East Rand Organised Crime Unit was investigating.
