Burning truck disrupts Joburg traffic

Johannesburg - An articulated truck caught fire on the N3 north near the Marlboro offramp on Thursday morning, Johannesburg metro police said.

"The fire department are still on scene... I believe it is quite a large fire," Inspector Edna Mamonyane said.

Traffic was heavily affected, with two lanes closed to traffic.

    My husband left home at 6:15 and it took him one and a half hours to get to Petervale. Imagine how bad it is for those who left later!

    This is a clear example of the driver travelling too fast, he tried to brake, and his brakes overheated and burst into flame (quite cool actually) and then set fire to his curtain side trailers. Track his speed on the tachometer data uploads... then fine the company for F@@king up the traffic.

    Traffic was terrible, I was travelling on the N3 in the opposite direction and I sat forever, stupid people slowing down to check it out.... urg!
