Johannesburg - Hundreds of commuters were left stranded on Monday morning after striking bus drivers blockaded the Arrowgate depot at Montana in Cape Town, preventing other drivers from working, Golden Arrows bus services said.
"Members of the SA Transport and Allied Workers Union were protesting against the company's right to discipline staff members who participated in an illegal strike action on May 8," said spokesperson Vuyisile Mdoda.
Services in the Eastgate depot in Blackheath were also disrupted, thus affecting commuters in areas such as Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Nyanga and certain parts of the Cape Flats.
"We are trying to resolve the matter because this is an inconvenience to passengers," said Mdoda.
The company had not yet made arrangements for alternative transport, however, that would be done and announced in due course, he said.
