CCTV shows cops bungling probe

Johannesburg - Five policemen have been arrested after CCTV footage caught them bungling a robbery investigation at a government building, the SABC said on Wednesday.
The closed circuit television images, which had earlier
captured two robbers as they stole R50 000 from a
Department of Home Affairs building near Pretoria, showed the officers examining items without gloves.
SABC said the five policemen had been arrested for
"defeating the ends of justice".
One policeman was seen picking up evidence and then tossing
it aside.
The Department of Home Affairs, which has faced frequent
criticism for widespread corruption, confirmed the March 23
robbery and said it was investigating the possibility of it
being an inside job, SABC reported.
One of the robbers was shown speaking on a telephone
unlocking a door to get to a safe.
A Home Affairs spokesperson told SABC over 200 officials have
been fired over corruption in the past two years.
