Johannesburg - A man was shot dead and his wife injured when three men fired shots at them in Meadowdale, Edenvale, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale said the shooting took place around 08:00 on Wednesday when Gavin Adams, 39, dropped his wife, Leila, off at work.

"Three balaclava-clad men came out of their silver Renault with tinted windows and approached the couple's car before firing shots at them."

The man was shot dead and his wife was rushed to a nearby hospital in a serious condition, Mogale said.

She declined to speculate on the motive for the murder.

It has become psrt of the South African culture as a way of resolving differences. It will soon be legislated in the amemded constitution

@Bernd. Pardon my ignorance, but is the dealing of gangsterism included in our constitution? And can the constitution be amended without the required majority vote of 75%. (I think that's what it is)
