Cape Town - A Cape Town policeman has told the Blue Downs
Magistrate's Court how 16-year-old Charmaine Mare was killed and dismembered,
it was reported on Friday.
The Cape Argus reported that investigating officer, Daniel
Sampson, gave the details during the bail application of Johannes de Jager on
Thursday.
Sampson said De Jager, aged 48, allegedly killed Mare on
January 11 after a fight at the Windsor Park home she was staying at for the
holidays.
De Jager had been living at the house with his girlfriend.
Mare, from Mpumalanga, was a friend of the girlfriend's
daughter.
"The accused told me that he and Charmaine argued in
the bathroom. She fell. He grabbed her by the neck, dragged her out of the
bathroom into the passage, into the braai room and into the drain. It [the
drain] was about one metre deep," Sampson reportedly said.
De Jager allegedly shoved her into the drain. Later, he
allegedly tried to remove the body but because it was stiff he cut off her arms
and legs to get her out.
Her torso was dumped and set alight in a field. Her arms
were found close to his bakkie at the garage of the house and her legs on the
N2 near Firgrove.
