Johannesburg - Nine waiters were arrested on Wednesday after allegedly defrauding customers, Western Cape police said.
Police spokesperson Captain Randall Stoffels said on Thursday that the group were arrested in Milnerton after a "meticulous investigation".
Police say the suspects were employed at a Canal Walk restaurant as waiters and had allegedly been using a skimming device to clone credit cards and push through false transactions.
"Then the corresponding cash would be removed from the cash registers," he said.
Commercial detectives were called in and the suspects - aged between 21 and 32 - were arrested.
The nine were expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Monday.
