Durban - Leadership was needed in the fight against HIV/Aids in all communities, Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi said in Durban on Friday.

"We must fund programmes dealing with HIV, care and prevention. We must give leadership in our communities.

"I'm happy with the HIV campaign in this province because of leadership," said Motsoaledi who was speaking at the Positive Convention held at Elangeni Hotel.

He said people living with HIV/Aids should live positive lives and healthy lifestyles.

"People living negative must stay negative by taking care of themselves and others."

He said HIV positive people should be ambassadors in the fight against the disease.

"People living with HIV and Aids are ambassadors and faces of the HIV campaign."

The opening of the convention was attended by KwaZulu-Natal Premier Zweli Mkhize and Health MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo.
