Cape Town - A man accused of eating the heart of his ex-lover’s boyfriend with a knife and fork was absolutely calm when he appeared in a Cape Town court on Thursday, a newspaper reported.

Andrew “Master Benson” Chimbozo, 34, who the Cape Argus described as a hulk of a man, appeared in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court for the murder of 62-year-old Mbuyiselo Manona in Gugulethu.

Chimbozo allegedly stabbed Manona, bit him and then proceeded to eat his heart with a knife and fork.

According to reports, the accused was still eating the heart when police arrived.

Chimboza is apparently a former lover of Manona’s girlfriend and, according to the Times, was heard by witnesses as saying “I am the king”.

The matter was postponed to 19 June.
