Cape Town - A Cape Town cat alerted its owner to a burglar outside his window, it was reported on Tuesday.
Claremont resident Dennis van den Berg told the Cape Times he was relaxing in his lounge on Monday afternoon when his cat "Whisky" made an unusual moaning sound and jumped onto a windowsill at his home.
"I knew something was happening, so I got up from the couch. I saw a man walk past the window towards my kitchen door, which was open," he said.
"I got a shock and I could see he was shocked to see me there too. I asked him what he wanted and he just ran towards me and attacked me."
Van den Berg grabbed a baseball bat at his front door and tussled with the intruder, managing to hit him on the head.
He escaped with minor stab wounds. The burglar fled without taking anything.
