2010-10-17 07:46
Cape Town - One person was killed and six seriously injured when a bakkie and car collided on the N1 highway near the Monte Vista off-ramp near Cape Town, ER24 said on Saturday.

Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said the vehicles collided and the bakkie crashed into a barrier next to the road, before overturning.

The deceased, as well as the injured, were all occupants of the bakkie.

Jackson said most of them were travelling in the back of the bakkie and were ejected when the vehicle overturned.

The six who were injured were taken to hospital for treatment. Two of them had serious head injuries, while the other four had sustained less severe injuries, including broken bones, lacerations and abrasions.
