Johannesburg - A 26-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs worth R25 000 in Delft, Cape Town, on Sunday evening, Western Cape police said.
Captain Frederick van Wyk said police spotted the man, who looked suspicious, near a known drug outlet.
"When the members stopped to search the man he ran and members gave chase and the suspect ran through the backyard of a house."
The officers cornered the man, and when they searched the area they found five plastic bags, each containing 100 mandrax tablets, under a bench. Van Wyk said the man was a well-known drug dealer.
He would appear in Bellville Magistrate's Court soon.
