Johannesburg - A Woodstock man was shot dead after he allegedly fired shots at two Nigerians, Cape Town police said on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Billy Jones said the two Nigerians both sustained wounds in the legs and arms.
"The deceased, 33, identified as Ashley Jones, came to the premises at the corner of Albert and Davidson roads in Woodstock to sell a laptop computer to the two Nigerian men," Jones said.
"An argument ensued between them and resulted in a physical confrontation," he said.
Jones said the dead man had allegedly drawn a firearm and shot at the two Nigerian men.
He said during the fight, one of the Nigerians was able to get hold of the firearm and he shot the deceased in the chest and left side of the body.
"The man died on the scene. The two Nigerian men are currently in a serious, but stable condition in Groote Schuur hospital," Jones said.
He said a 38-special revolver seized at the scene was confirmed as stolen in Wynberg. Police also seized two laptop computers, five cellular phones and two hi-fi systems.
Jones said it was not clear if the Nigerian men had valid papers, and this would form part of police investigations.
The firearm was taken in for forensic testing.
Charges of murder and of the possession of suspected stolen property were registered.
