Cape Town - The convicted murderer of a young Cape Town mother will be sentenced later this week, the Cape Argus reported on Wednesday.

Moegamat Armien Salie was reportedly found guilty on Monday of killing and robbing Anzunette du Plessis inside her Claremont home on 4 October last year.

The newspaper reported that he would be sentenced on Friday.

Du Plessis's mother Sandra handed up a letter to the court during closing sentencing arguments.

The letter reportedly read: "I want to tell you how my whole life changed in the blink of an eye... Why did you hurt her? Why did you take her life? I have no sympathy for you. Do you realise what Anzunette meant to all of us? You did not only take her life but all of ours too."

According to the report, Salie's lawyer told the court his client left school at a young age, had a difficult childhood, and was married with two children.
