Cape Town - The United States has lifted its blacklisting of the five star Westin Grand hotel in Cape Town, the US consulate in the city said on Tuesday.
The hotel establishment next door to the Cape Town International Convention Centre was blacklisted by the consulate after what it claims was "multiple theft reports" from US officials staying there.
In a message emailed last week to US citizens in South Africa and posted on the US embassy's website, the consulate said US government employees and contractors had been "directed" not to stay at the Westin until further notice.
The consulate said "the US mission in South Africa is investigating the situation in co-ordination with hotel administration and will advise all US citizens of any change in this policy."
"The hotel has taken measures to prevent similar incidents in the future," it said.
