Cape trio hels over drugs

Johannesburg - Three people have been arrested in Woodstock in separate incidents for possession of drugs with a combined estimated street value of R20 000, Cape Town police said on Wednesday.

Captain FC Van Wyk said a 67-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday when he tried to hide a container with 123 units of heroin.

"Patrolling police spotted the man running into a prominent pub on Albert Road. During the pursuit the man tried to hide the container."

Van Wyk said the heroin had an estimated street value of R12 000.

Also on Tuesday, two Malawi nationals, a man, 36, and a woman, 29, were arrested when police raided two flats in Dublin Mews.

"Police seized a large quantity of compressed dagga with an estimated street value of R8 000."

Van Wyk said the three people faced charges related to dealing and possession of drugs. They were expected to appear in the Cape Town's Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
