Car crashes into Cape Town house

2012-03-25 14:33

Cape Town - Two people were killed and two others were injured when their car crashed into a house in Mitchells Plain on Sunday, the City of Cape Town said.

An eyewitness saw the driver lose control of the vehicle, which hit the house's boundary wall, then struck the garage, said disaster management spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes.

He said the driver, aged 20, and a woman, aged 32, died at the scene.

"The other two occupants in the car, adult males in their late 20s, were treated on the scene by paramedics and taken to Groote Schuur Hospital for further medical treatment. "It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle was driving recklessly and was drag racing on the road," he said.

The three people who were in the house were not injured.
