Durban - A 7-year-old boy and his 64-year-old grandfather have died after a car they were in rolled down a slope and crashed into a Pietermaritzburg house.

The car, with three passengers inside, was parked when it suddenly started rolling downhill, the Daily News reported.

“It is alleged that the car started to roll forward. The driver attempted to stop the car, but lost control of the vehicle and it crashed through a concrete wall and into the veranda of a house,” said police spokesperson lieutenant Joey Jeevan.

The grandfather, Sbu Msomi, was flung out of the car and died on the scene.

His grandson, Ngcebo, was critically injured and later died of his injuries.

The residents of the house and the driver of the car were not injured.
