Johannesburg - A bomb scare in Johannesburg, which led to the evacuation of hundreds of people, turned out to be a hoax.
SABC news reported that metro police evacuated people from the Carlton centre in central Johannesburg and the bomb squad searched for possible explosive devices in the 50-storey building.
However, nothing was found.
The squad was called in after Transnet received an anonymous call that certain officers were under threat.
Metro police earlier evacuated the building and closed off Commissioner street, advising motorists to stay away from the area
